Chronicle the unexpected deaths of 3x Hans-G Hi-221DPB monitors.
- Got 3x Hans-G Hi-221DPB monitors back in December 2008.
- Use simultaneously for a 3x monitor system. Thus they each see the same usage.
- Happy for almost 3 years.
- One starts being flakey on power-up. The power light cycles through green-amber-off for 5-20 min until display activates. Annoying but livable.
- After a month, it stops activating completely.
- Swap with smaller temp monitor.
- Called Hanns tech support.
- Repair costs outside of 3yr warrenty is $80 shipping plus cost of repair.
- Thus monitor is designated for elec waste.
- Get new Acer monitor. Loyalty is NOT and issue.
- Then second monitor dies.
- And third monitor has power-up issue.
- Observation:
- All 3 monitors die within a couple months of each other.
- All 3 monitors die within weeks of warranty expiration.
- I could have kept better purchase record and acted more promptly to get one of the monitors repaired under warranty.
- Conclusion:
- Draw your own.
- Happy Ending Consolation:
- New monitors show sharp white which increases mental acuity and productivity:
